Inside of You

Posted by ghostpipe73 on May 25, 2008

One of my favourite new metal bands, Hoobastank.

Great funky riffs and disco beat with good old rock flavour and strange 80s pop spiced in.

Here in my Home

Posted by ghostpipe73 on May 22, 2008

Colours don’t matter. Neither does political inclinations. Or social status. Or how well you cook.

My home is Malaysia. And that is all I have as a home.

Corruption – how trendy is it?

Posted by ghostpipe73 on May 18, 2008

Day in day out, all over the world people talk of corruption in the government. Their own government, another country’s government, any old government, the new government, the previous government, the future government, the bloody government.

Where I live, corruption is part of the government. No corruption, no government. Therefore, the world in my context has accepted the fact that, like it or not, I have to live with a government that will employ the mechanism of corruption to be part of its operating arm for governance.

Ok, that is fine by me.

I just came across this article about an allegedly self-proclaimed potential new leader of the country who claims he shall be the next premier come this September 2008.  Interesting. I don’t really give two rats ass about who becomes the next premier, or what type of governance he or she proposes to bring to this country. What I give a shit about is how much corruption is his or her new governance is going to practice?

Future leader, whomever who may address yourself to be, please remember that, should you be in power come this September as you so claim, then I beg of you, please oh pretty please with double sugar topping  on top, do not forget the rakyat / people. Do whatever you want or whatever you need to do to satisfy your political ego, just remember to provide better health and education facilities for the rural folks, to give more to the poor and needy, to provide more assistance to those of ethnic minority or the socially-inept due to locality, level of literacy or just plain public prejudice and discrimination.  Those kind of simple things that wouldn’t cost more than 2 or 3 million Ringgit a year to do. Light years cheaper than any of those developments the country is proposing to do.

Keep your corruption mechanism for all I care, just don’t forget the rakyat.

Cause if you do, then we’re back to fucking square one.

Should that be the case, Mr. Self Proclaim Saviour of the Nation, you’ll be needing this:

There can only be one Bohemian Rhapsody

Posted by ghostpipe73 on May 17, 2008

Songwriting is an art, no doubt. Plus, some skill and plenty of practice makes one better at it. Some are more gifted than others of course. This song was written by a genius. The arrangements are notoriously perfect. How I wished I could write like this.

Forget the glam rock paraphernalia for a while, just appreciate the song in its entirety. Absolutely brilliant.

Freddie Mercury and friends. Bohemian Rhapsody.

Don’t forget those who have less

Posted by ghostpipe73 on May 15, 2008

While you’re having dinner with your loved ones this evening, in the comfort and safety (for now) of your home, don’t forget to spare some thoughts to those in other parts of the world who cannot have their usual proper meal because they don’t have a house anymore.  Or even a family.

China may possibly be the world’s next biggest contributor to environmental degradation, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any innocent lives living in that vastly populated land of 2 billion people.

Have a pleasant dinner.

Where are we heading?

Posted by ghostpipe73 on May 15, 2008

In the past few weeks or so, the word “sedition” has been grossly publicised, so much so that I was compelled to find out what it was actually defined as, or at least how it was interpreted to mean on the net. Wikipedia provided me with the following (quote):

Sedition is a term of law which refers to covert conduct, such as speech and organization, that is deemed by the legal authority as tending toward insurrection against the established order. Sedition often includes subversion of a constitution and incitement of discontent (or resistance) to lawful authority. Sedition may include any commotion, though not aimed at direct and open violence against the laws. Seditious words in writing are seditious libel.

Because sedition is typically considered a subversive act, the overt acts that may be prosecutable under sedition laws vary from one legal code to another. Where those legal codes have a traceable history, there is also a record of the change of definition for what constituted sedition at certain points in history. This overview has served to develop a sociological definition of sedition as well, within study of persecution.

The difference between sedition and treason consists primarily in the subjective ultimate object of the violation to the public peace. Sedition does not consist of levying war against a government nor of adhering to its enemies, giving enemies aid, and giving enemies comfort. Nor does it consist, in most representative democracies, of peaceful protest against a government, nor of attempting to change the government by democratic means (such as direct democracy or constitutional convention).

Put simply, sedition is the stirring up of rebellion against the government in power. Treason is the violation of allegiance to one’s sovereign or state and has to do with giving aid to enemies or levying war. Sedition is more about encouraging the people to rebel, when treason is actually betraying the country.

So there you have it. Sedition.

I will leave you with an example of how the word “sedition” was recently used to technically prosecute an elderly gentlemen who believed he was exercising his rights as a Member of Parliament for Bukit Gelugor, Malaysia to question something which he needed clarification for, while in a parliamentary sitting.

The Fury of Nargis over Irrawady Delta

Posted by ghostpipe73 on May 7, 2008

On Saturday, nature ordered Cyclone Nargis to unleash its best-kept fury on a population of about 5 million Myanmarese over the Irrawady Delta. It was possibly the wettest hell on earth this year. Up until now, the death toll is over 22,000.

I came across this Youtube video which talked about the drastic rise in prices of food and other needful things. If this is true, what the hell is wrong with their confounded Government?

Click here for CNN news on the disaster.

Folks, be thankful for whatever small uninteresting thing you have everyday, because some people not far from where you are on the Planet have just been raped off their lives, loved ones, livelihood and visions of any immediate happiness.

Layla….You got me on my knees

Posted by ghostpipe73 on May 4, 2008

Some things are simply better left unsaid.  Layla by Ol’ Slowhand himself.  Damn excellent song. Nuff said.  I now dig my own grave to announce my unworthiness of this contribution to the world’s music industry for all time.

Eric Clapton, ladies and gentlemen.

A Beautiful Lie

Currently my favourite song.  The facts behind the song is what moved me. Emo rock delivered pretty well by Jared and his friends.
